Jeffrey Brown is a co-founder of Shipshape IT and serves as its President and Chief Operating Officer. In that role he has been responsible for the daily execution of Shipshape IT’s vision for managed IT services, meeting the challenge to stay true to this vision as the company has grown steadily and the industry has significantly changed over Shipshape IT’s ten years.
Jeffrey holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Shippensburg University, but has always held an interest in technology from a young age. He embarked on his IT career in the early 90’s, with a focus on legal technologies and electronic discovery. Seeking broader experience, he went to work at Dataprise, Inc. in 1998, where he ascended to Director of Enterprise Services and led the effort to design and deploy secure data networks for the 2004 G8 Summit in Sea Island, Georgia.
Seeking a further focus on cybersecurity, Jeffrey joined the secure communications firm KoolSpan, Inc. from 2005 to 2010 as Director of Information Technology. In 2007 he achieved certification as a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional). He still maintains this certification as he leads the company’s cybersecurity initiatives.
Jeffrey resides in Baltimore, MD where he is active in the downtown community and serves on the Riverside Neighborhood Association board. In his free time he enjoys cigars and whiskey of all varieties. He also maintains an active interest in PEVs (personal electric vehicles) and is a founding member and director for Glydiators, Inc., a DC-based non-profit focused on promoting sustainable micro-mobility solutions for individuals.
